A free, plain-English matched betting site, run by one person.
No team, no investors, no affiliate links. Here's who I am, why I built it, and how the content stays honest.
Hi, I'm Luke
BetBoffins is run entirely by me. There's no team, no investors, no marketing budget. Just one person who got hooked on matched betting at university and wanted to create something honest and educational to help others do what I did.
I was matched betting full time for a couple of years during and after university, mostly to fund my way through. Later I worked in the industry (many years ago now), which is where I learned how the bookmakers and the matched-betting platforms actually think about each other.
I hate gambling, I hate bookmakers and I hate how dishonest the other matched betting sites are (for example with their affiliate links).
I'm a developer in my day job, so I built BetBoffins for fun in the evenings. For now it's a fun side project, but I'd love to monetise it one day to fund more expensive features.
Why this site exists
Most matched-betting sites earn a referral fee every time you sign up to a bookmaker through them. This seems OK until you realise bookmakers do not want you matched betting, and by using an affiliate link you are tracked alongside a group of other people doing exactly the same thing as you, which makes banning you much easier.
These matched-betting sites are typically paid services, so they're absolutely trying to have their cake and eat it too.
I will never use bookmaker affiliate links on this website.
How the content stays accurate
UK bookmaker offers change all the time. To keep the guides honest:
- Every offer guide and blog post shows a “Last reviewed:” date so you can tell whether the terms still apply.
- I run a full audit of every offer's terms roughly weekly and update each guide before changing the date.
- When something material shifts (Sky Bet dropped its qualifying bet from £10 to 5p in 2026; Bet365's old “Acca Insurance” became the “100% Acca Boost”), I rewrite the guide and the worked example, not just the headline.
- This is all done by me, so if you spot any issues please flag them. You can email me here.
What BetBoffins isn't
- A live oddsmatcher (yet). This is a feature I'd love to build if the site can ever fund it; the live odds feeds are expensive. In the meantime, a paid service like OddsMonkey does this well, just be wary of their affiliate links.
- Selling your data. I will never do this.
- An affiliate site, and definitely never will be.
- A casino review site. Casino offers are covered honestly as +EV, not as risk-free.
A note on responsible gambling
Matched betting is mathematically risk-free when done correctly, but it sits next to gambling and uses gambling sites. If you ever feel pulled to chase a loss, deviate from the strategy, or “just have a bet” outside the matched betting framework, stop and seek help from BeGambleAware or GamCare.
Matched betting is absolutely a gateway into gambling and I do not want that to happen to any of you reading this. Gambling is a mugs game: you will lose if you deviate from the guidance I provide. The whole point of this site is to teach you how to beat the bookies, but it takes discipline.
